The update sequence below is recommended by Syneto engineering team in order to streamline the update process and minimize downtime required for operating system and hypervisor updates. 


Important note: This update sequence will work for systems with the storage controller firmware version v.16.00.12.00. You can check your storage controller firmware version by following the steps in this guide.  

If your storage controller version is older than v.16.00.12.00, use this update sequence instead. 


Follow these steps:

  1. Update SynetoOS to version 4.7.9 
  2. Update SynetoOS to version 4.8.5, when prompted to reboot the host, select the “postpone” option
  3. Update ESXi to version 7.0.3o using this how-to guide. Once prompted to reboot the host, select “postpone” 
  4. Shut down all VMs running on the host
  5. Shut down SynetoOS 
  6. Reboot the host
