SynetoOS5 introduces a new concept to manage data protection for virtual machines: SLA Policies.

The SLA policies define the business requirements:

  • the frequency with which snapshots are taken
  • retention period for the protected data on the appliance
  • replication policy to another HYPER appliance or the Cloud
  • retention period for the replicated data

The SLA policy determines the Recovery Point Objective (RPO), data retention and replication for a virtual machine.

In the Main Menu, select the page SLA policies.

The SLA policies page displays the default SLA policies and all the SLA policies defined by the user. The default SLA policies are: Silver, Gold and Platinum. These SLA policies can be modified or deleted.

Select one of the SLA policies to view it's characteristics in the right panel:

  • Compliance rules: how often a protection is run, the retention time, replication target and replica retention time.
  • Apply compliance rules: the time window when protections can run
  • Virtual machines with policy: which virtual machines are protected with the selected policy
