SETTING UP A JBOD
Cabling for connecting a Syneto JBOD to a Syneto Head node is pretty straightforward.
A. On the JBOD
Connect a Mini-SAS HD cable to one of the red ports illustrated in the image below. They are physically marked with ‘IN’ on the JBOD.
If you would also like to have BMC/IPMI access to this machine, connect anRJ45 Ethernet cable to the orange port (100 Mbps)
B. On the head node
1. Connect the other end of the Mini-SAS HD cable to the bottom port of the external SAS connector of your head node.
The external SAS is located on the right side of the head node when looked at from the back.
2. ADDING AN ADDITIONAL JBOD
If you have multiple JBODS, and you want to cascade them:
2.1 Connect a Mini-SAS HD cable on the blue ‘out’ port on the first JBOD (which is also connected to your head node)
2.2 Connect the other end of the Mini-SAS HD cable to the red ‘in’ port on the second JBOD.
2.3 If you have more than 2 JBODS repeat previous 2 steps where the first JBOD will now be the second JBOD.
